Misconduct, Complaints And Appeals

ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT

Student Appeals

AAON’s student policies define your rights, responsibilities and recourse.

Where at any time a trainer or assessor believes there has been an incident of academic misconduct involving plagiarism, cheating, and collusion, a report will be filed with the Training Manager along with reasons for the allegation.

The reasons may include:

  • Any similarity between student responses
  • Use of un-referenced source materials
  • Copying of other students’ work
  • Copy of material from the internet or textbooks

The Training Manager and Trainer and Assessor will address this with the student by asking them to respond to the allegation and provide an explanation before a decision is reached about the disciplinary steps to be taken.

This may include:

  • The student to resubmit the assessment
  • The trainer or Assessor to use an alternative form of assessment to determine the student’s understanding
  • Where a student has repeated serious allegations of academic misconduct, special or altered conditions may be applied for their assessment task
  • In other serious cases, the student may be asked to withdraw from the course.
