At the Australian Academy of Nursing [AAON], we strive to provide every student of all religions, gender and cultural traditions with an outstanding educational experience.
As an international community and a highly-distinguished vocational learning and training healthcare academy, AAON’s all-encompassing culture not only brings together a wealth of ideas, hands-on experiences and skill-sets but also holds us and every student accountable to the highest standards of integrity, performance and distinction that goes beyond the classroom and practical workplace setting.
In the same way, we’re equally committed to treating all students fairly and respectfully, and we advocate inclusion and social diversity. They are the guiding principles that empower our students to lead, question and thrive in a safe and caring classroom environment — and set them apart as tomorrow’s dedicated healthcare workers.
Every faculty member is fully committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, shared knowledge and equal opportunities for all students.
We welcome you to become part of AAON’s vibrant and friendly campus.
Classroom & Resources
At AAON, we strive to provide every student with an outstanding educational experience. This mandate is reflected by our dedicated healthcare courses, modern campus facilities, support services and practical workplace locations — each meticulously tailored to engage and provide you with the finest vocational teaching and training outcomes.
Together with WiFi access, you will also have admittance to the Johanna Griggs Library and a clinical laboratory where you will learn and develop skills for a practical work placement in a hospital or community setting. Additionally, we provide academic, personal and social support programs that will empower you to succeed.
Living In Australia
A critical part of the planning process in moving to Australia is becoming familiar with the cost of living. This includes estimating all costs associated with your accommodation, food, utilities, transportation, personal computers, phone and other associated expenses such as additional private health insurance and general entertainment.
You can use our Cost of Living summary as a general guide or research the different cash outlay requirements when you rent a property, live with a family [homestay] or in a shared accommodation arrangement. All estimated figures are in Australian dollars, however, your accommodation and transportation expenses will vary depending on the location you choose and your lifestyle preferences.
Drive, walk or arrive by Uber or public transport. Getting to and from our campus in the heart of Parramatta is easy and convenient. Located just 35 minutes from Sydney’s CBD and one kilometre from Parramatta Station, you will be able to enjoy AAON’s prime location.
By using Transport NSW’s Opal card, you can pay for travel by tapping on and off on all modes of transport across the great Sydney region [within the Opal network]. There are also regular shuttle services to Westfield Shopping Centre and other local conveniences. Please contact our Student’s Support team if you require further assistance in planning your trip.
Parramatta is a culturally-diverse city and the major hub of western Sydney. Also one of the oldest settlements, the city today offers a dynamic cafe and restaurant scene, plenty of open spaces and Westfield Parramatta, a mega-shopping centre with a cinema complex, just minutes from AAON’s campus.
You can also embrace the nightlife and entertainment, shop at the farmers’ market, participate in many community classes, be part of the many hosted cultural, food and wine festivals or enjoy the nearby waters of the Parramatta River. And opposite our campus is a gymnasium — one of several in the neighbourhood where you can focus on your wellbeing.
